So Wild a Place

An annual celebration of the land we love and protect...

So Wild a Place is Black Swamp Conservancy’s annual fundraiser that brings together people who care deeply about conservation and the future of our region.

From woods and wetlands to rivers and family farms, these landscapes define the character of northwest Ohio and the future we’re working to preserve. As Henry David Thoreau wrote, “In wildness is the preservation of the world.”

At So Wild a Place, we come together to honor that truth: the quiet strength of a floodplain forest, the resilience of a prairie, the hum of life in a thriving wetland.

Join us for an evening filled with local flavors, good company, music and inspiration drawn from the wild places that sustain us

Whether you come for the cause or the camaraderie, you’ll leave renewed in your commitment to conservation.

Why So Wild A Place Matters

Woods, wetlands, and farm fields are more than beautiful backdrops; they are the foundation of a healthy future. These natural places provide essential habitat for wildlife, protect our communities by absorbing floodwaters, and naturally filter the nutrients and pollutants that threaten our streams, rivers, and Lake Erie.

When you support So Wild a Place, you’re helping protect the lands that clean our water, shelter our wildlife, and offer us all a place to breathe, reflect, and renew. Together, we can ensure these wild and working landscapes endure for our communities today and for generations to come.

Djangophonique

Djangophonique is an award winning project that delivers the infectious joy, and expressive freedom that is at the heart of Django Reinhardt’s jazz manouche. With respect for the tradition and a fearless creativity that bends the conventions of the style, Djangophonique is keeping the Hot Club revival alive and well. The result is a sound that’s unmistakable to fans of the music, and alluring to the uninitiated—a sound that can bring the lively energy of a Parisian dance hall to the quietest listening room or captivate a buzzing festival audience with the aching nostalgia of a shimmering ballad.
