Join Rob Krain, Black Swamp Conservancy Executive Director, as he leads a walk through Bell Woods.

In spring, this remnant black swamp woods reveals its beauty with carpets of spring ephemerals, like trillium and wild geranium. You’ll also get a peek at the heron rookery which will be active with nesting birds.

This spring walk will take place on rustic, unimproved paths, so please be prepared for the weather and swampy terrain. Muck boots and layered clothing will be best for this free walk for all ages. Black Swamp Conservancy has a limited number of muck boots available for use.

This is a FREE event, but registration is required.

Bell Woods is located at 4825 Sugar Ridge Road, Pemberville, OH 43450. We’ll meet in the parking lot behind our office. Overflow parking is available across the street at Eastwood Schools.

To further your family’s experience of the woods, visit your local library and check out this wonderful companion book: Wake Up, Woods (2019) text by Michael Homoya, verses by Shane Gibson, and illustrations by Gillian Harris.
